Assessment is the process by which students and teachers gain insight into learning and development.
For every student to achieve their full potential, baseline assessment procedures are implemented before they join the school, including the use of CAT4 profiling for Year 12-Year 13. The results of these are used to determine particular strengths and needs of the students and to plan learning programmes that address their individual needs.
Appropriate assessments track students' progress against International Baccalaureate levels and BTEC standards. Assessment at the school is used for both formative and summative purposes. Formative assessment helps staff and students to identify strengths, weaknesses and ways to improve and enhance learning attainment. Summative assessment provides information to judge the extent to which students have achieved outcomes relevant to the qualities in the programme.
Career-related Programme students are assessed both internally by the school and externally.
