MIS is a fully inclusive international school, for students aged 16-19, that provides an environment where all students can flourish and feel safe.

We recognise that students learn at different rates and that there are many factors affecting achievement, including ability, emotional stage, age and maturity. We aim to identify the individual needs of each student, as they arise, and provide teaching and learning contexts which enable every student to achieve and succeed.

If you are interested in applying for a place for your child at MIS, you can start the application process by completing a Student Enquiry Form. On completion, we will send you registration forms and request additional documentation.

Your child will need to participate in a CAT4 assessment. The results of the CAT4 assessment, together with the forms you complete and return, will enable us to ascertain whether your child’s unique needs can be fully met at MIS.

Entry requirements

As an inclusive school, we are always willing to look at applicants on a case by case basis. We maintain an inclusive entry requirement of 4 x I/GCSE passes; the MYP certificate (28 points); including English and Maths; or an equivalent qualification. This ensures that the highest number of students will be able to commence the programme and that they will be able to succeed at entering either higher/further education or their chosen employment.

Assessment

The CAT4 assessment is not used as an entrance test but to determine basic entry skills and aptitude. Unfortunately, on some occasions there may be circumstances where we may not be able to meet a student’s needs at MIS but, in accordance with our admissions policy, we will do whatever we can to make or seek alternative provision.

Timings

Applications can be made through the admissions team at any time up to 1st August (for a September commencement). Please contact the admissions team to discuss special arrangements after this time. Following the admissions process, parents will be informed in writing of the outcome as soon as possible.

Visas

Kindly note that for visa requiring students, applications will need to be made 2-3 months ahead of the intake date in order to ensure the visa processing time is accounted for. Students may be accepted up to 2 weeks late onto the courses and will have to catchup any missed work. Should a visa be refused for any reason, this is beyond the control of MIS and the entire decision remains under the control of the Swiss immigration authorities. Any fees paid will in this case be refunded, minus an administration fee of 250 CHF and in addition the non-refundable application fee.

Following the admissions process, parents will be informed in writing of the outcome as soon as possible.

Application fee

An application fee of 200 CHF is payable at the time of submission of application forms. This fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable against tuition fees.

Enrolment fee

An enrolment fee of 1,500 CHF is required as a one-off payment in the first year of studies and is in addition to any other fees.

Waiting list

If a year group becomes full, a waiting list of applicants will be maintained to a maximum number representing 15% of the year group’s capacity. Should a place become available applicants’ families will be notified. In the event that no school place becomes available via the waiting list, all fees paid to the school shall be reimbursed to the student, minus the application fee of 200 CHF.

Flexible boarding options are available on a case by case basis.

Fees are payable across three terms, in advance, before the beginning of each term.

Included in the tuition fees:

  • Food will be provided seven days a week for boarding students – breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Lunch will be provided five days a week for day school students (dinner and breakfast optional)
  • A number of extra-curricular activities (where there is an associated cost, parents will be informed before students sign up)

 Other costs

  • Special meals – MIS reserves the right to add an extra cost for specific dietary requests
  • Examination fees – please note that external examinations may cost up to 1,000 CHF in addition to tuition fees
  • Student insurance

Discounts and payment plans

Sibling discount

A sibling discount will be applied as follows: 5% on second child and 10% on third child whilst all in school. Non-cumulative with any other offer. If a candidate qualifies for several discounts, the highest rate will be applied.

Cancellations

  • 31 days or more before the term begins: 10% of overall fee
  • 30 to 22 days before the term begins: 35% of overall fee
  • 21 to 15 days before the term begins: 40% of overall fee
  • 14 to 8 days before the term begins: 50% of overall fee
  • 7 to 0 days before the term begins, or non-appearance: 60% of overall fee
